Terms of use.
The ground rules for using this site and for giving to Project HeartPack, in plain language.
Effective September 19, 2026.
Using the site
By using projectheartpack.com you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site. It is here so you can learn what we do, see the work, and give. Please use it for that, and:
- Do not scrape the site or hammer its pages or its API endpoints with automated requests, or otherwise try to overload it.
- Do not try to break, probe, or get around the site’s security.
- Do not pretend to be Project HeartPack, one of our team members, or someone acting for us.
- Do not use the site, or our name, to send spam or to mislead anyone.
Our content
The photographs, letters, writing, and marks on this site (including the heart mark and the wordmark) belong to Project HeartPack or are used with permission. You are welcome to link to any page and to share it. Please do not copy our photographs, letters, or marks for other uses, or use them in a way that suggests we endorse something, without asking us first in writing. Many photos show real people we have worked with, and we take that seriously.
Donations
Every donation is a voluntary gift. You can give through the forms on the Give page and the Kits page, which are run by Zeffy. Zeffy’s own terms and any fees or optional tips it presents apply to your payment.
Project HeartPack is not yet a registered 501(c)(3), so donations are not tax-deductible, and we cannot issue tax receipts.
We use donations for HeartPack supplies, shipping, events, and the costs of running the project: the paper, envelopes, treats, and delivery that turn a letter into a delivered HeartPack, and the basics that let the team plan and do that work. A gift is not tied to a particular delivery or event unless we agreed to that with you in writing beforehand.
Gifts made on the Kits page, and for now on the Give page, go toward the hygiene kits campaign: the soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and envelopes, plus the costs of packing and delivering them and other running expenses. If a campaign raises more than it needs, or the plan changes, the extra goes toward the next round of kits and deliveries and the costs of running Project HeartPack, including administrative and legal costs.
If you gave by mistake, or gave the wrong amount, email us as soon as you can with the date, the amount, and the service you used. We will work with you in good faith, and where we are able to return money we will.
Numbers on the site
We try to keep every figure on the site real and current, but they are approximate and can lag behind. Social view counts come from Instagram and TikTok and refresh about once an hour; the amount raised for the hygiene kits campaign comes from Zeffy and refreshes about once a minute. The number of kits shown is an estimate of what the money raised will pack, not a count of kits already delivered.
Links to other sites
The site links to services we do not run, such as Instagram and Zeffy. We are not responsible for what those services do or say, and their own terms and policies apply when you use them.
No warranties
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, on time, or free of errors.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Project HeartPack and the students and volunteers who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential harm that comes from using the site. Nothing here limits any liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. If a dispute cannot be settled by talking, it will be handled in the courts located in Texas.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site or the organization changes. The date at the top will show when. If you keep using the site after a change, that means you accept the new version. Our privacy policy is a separate page.
